Dan Deacon Live at The Biltmore Cabaret (Vancouver October 26th) pics

Dan Deacon brought his infamous live show to Vancouver's Biltmore Cabaret just before Halloween last month. The Biltmore was packed and many were in costume which only added to the magic. Deacon made his final stage preparations to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" which whipped the crowd into an appropriate frenzy. When the curtains opened Deacon was front and centre behind a table full of so many pedals and cables it was almost comical. One band mate joined him at the table while two live drummers filled out the stage. Now if you have never attended a Dan Deacon show before it is all about audience participation. DBefore long the crowd was split into two groups and led in an mass interpretive dance off.
Next up Deacon got a row of people to link hands above their heads while others passed underneath before becoming part of the tunnel themselves. Deacon led the human passageway out a back door and back in another door to the venue and then all the way around the bar.

The whole thing was scored by Deacon's latest album 'America' and several highlights from 'Bromst' as well.

Deacon recently created a smart phone app to be used at his live shows and asked everyone to turn it on part way through the set. The phones flashing colours on one side while the flash blinked on and off on the other.

Listen to "True Thrush" (below) now and peruse a few more shots from the show. See you at the next one.
