Synthcake performs for Tasty Ears On Location

Vancouver's Synthcake released their debut EP titled Musicophilia earlier this year. In a recent interview with the Georgia Straight vocalist Lana Pitre was asked if money wasn't an issue "Where are we opening a (live music) venue?" she responded “Behind the Centre for Digital Media. There’s a whole bunch of old vehicles and crap, but if you go a bit farther there’s this huge space right in front of this beautiful old train that just sits there. It’d be cool if we could put in some installations and just go all out. If we had a lot of money.” Well, we decided to take them up on it... sort of. Pitre and bandmates Adam Horn (keys), Chris Martell (drums), Nathan Schubert (synth), and Kristy-Lee Audette (trumpet) took us out to this magical place and performed a couple of songs for us. First up is the title track off of their debut EP before launching into an unreleased track titled "Sail Away". It was a beautiful day for a shoot and, security guard be damned, Synthcake rocked that train. We made the music venue happen, even if it was fleeting. Thanks again to the band, it was a lot of fun. For more behind the scenes shots of the band head over to Shaine Jones Photography. Georges Couling of Knuckleduster Music did the mix.
