California Wives 'Art History' (album sneak preview)


Chicago's California Wives are releasing their new album 'Art History' next week (September 4th) via Vagrant. The album was produced by Claudius Mittendorfer (Interpol, Neon Indian, Wild Nothing). The band is sharing a sneak preview of the entire album (below) for the long weekend.

WHY? "Jonathan's Hope"


WHY? to release fifth LP 'Mumps, etc.' on October 9th via Anticon/City Slang. The entire album was produced by Josiah and Yoni Wolf and recorded (choir, strings, horns, etc.) to two inch tape (no loops) before being mixed by Graham Marsh (Cee Lo Green, Katy Perry) with Yoni. Listen to the album opener "Jonathan's Hope" (below) now and get ready for twelve more tracks when the long player drops later this fall.

Julia Holter "Goddess Eyes I" (video)


Julia Holter released her critically acclaimed new album 'Ekstasis' earlier this year via RVNG Intl.. Holter is now sharing the video for "Goddess Eyes I" from the LP. The video is a collaboration with fellow LA resident and visual artist José Wolff (whom also did the video for Holter's "Sea Called Me Home"). We've had 'Ekstasis on regular rotation around here since it dropped last June. Watch the video above now.

Chrome Canyon "Memories of a Scientist" (video)


New York's Morgan Z (aka Chrome Canyon) to release debut LP 'Elemental Themes' on October 9th via Stones Throw. Check out the video for "Memories of a Scientist" (above) from the forthcoming album. The video was directed by Noah Kalina and Chrome Canyon himself.

This Many Boyfriends "Number 1"


This Many Boyfriends to release highly anticipated, self-titled debut album on October 8th via Angular Recording Co. The LP was recorded and mixed by Ryan Jarman of The Cribs at Edwyn Collins' West Heath Studios in London. Listen to the new single "Number 1" (below) now.

Mount Eerie to release part 2 to May's 'Clear Moon' LP with 'Ocean Roar' on September 4th via P.W. Elverum and Sun. 'Ocean Roar' is the darker counterpart to the critically acclaimed 'Clear Moon' as can be heard in the title track below. The man is prolific.
