Public Records had their Beta launch party at the always fun Waldorf Hotel a few weeks ago. The party included a chance to sign up to Beta test the site as well as sets from Jordan Klassen, Behind Sapphire and Guilty About Girls (photos below). As one clever Twitterer pointed out " MySpace is no longer just for musicians, it's no longer for anyone" (I don't care who bought it, it's dead). Bandcamp is great but what if there was a site where, not only could you share your music but interact with fans and even score a recording grant, have online distribution, and connect with promoters and festivals? Enter PublicRecords. The Beta testing has a ways to go but with version 1.0 not set to drop till next year they are on a good pace. The event was very well done and lots of local industry Pubas were in attendance. It will be interesting to watch Public Records grow over the next year and how it all plays out.
